Kinja'd!!!

Packing up for a three-day family trip, I swear I pack more cables of various descriptions than I pack clothes. Phones, laptops, games, HDMI, card readers. Jeebus, doesn’t anybody read books any more? (Not my picture, btw)

you can make soooooo many friends at the airport if your flight is delayed and you carry a power board like I do.

NEARLY everything these days is USB powered though, wiht standard adapter types, so I now carry anker’s multiple port charger and a pile of cables. still apile of cables, but only one block rather than a dozen different blocks.

related story: my son and I got pushed to a later flight than my wife and daughter. Three airports later I see a classic USB charger block and cable and thought “well I should just grab that off the floor, I can always use a spare, my kids are always losing the charger”

... it was my daughters from when she passed through there 2 hours earlier :D

All our devices charge via micro usb or the ipod connector and that includes my books which are on my kindle.

We've whittled it down to Roku stick, iPhone, iPad, a couple of lightning chargers. The car has a DVD built in (and we bring 30+ discs from home and the library). But I feel you completely.

That’s funny. And I like your airport friend idea. I usually have to go searching for a plug in a wall in some out of the way spot so I can stay topped up before getting on the plane.

I’ve got an ‘03 Odyssey, so it’s not built with charging in mind. I bought a DC/AC inverter that plugs in up front, then ran extension cords under the carpets to the back so they can stay plugged in on the drive. But with three phones (next trip it will likely be five), three Nintendo DSs, etc, it adds up fast.

Came here to post something similar. Anker is life now.

handy in that case too. should you find the one outlet in a mile of airport concourse and it is already occupied, you can politely say “lets share” and whip out your power board, rather than walk past 4 more starbucks in the search of another outlet

I use one of these , but I’m also a little OCD when it comes to organizing/cleaning.

Hey, it’s not like the 12-year-newer models are much better. The third row has a pronged plug (up to 150W), as well as RGB inputs, but nobody ever sits back there — it’s usually full of cargo. There’s nothing for the middle row, so everything depends on running wires from the front seat (USB and a single 12V). IMHO, Honda was 5-10 years behind on electric/convenience stuff there. Even the lowly Town & Country vans had HDMI and power in the middle rows for several years prior.

I laugh at your 3 day trip. Try a 2 week trip across 4 countries in Europe with wife and son, all with different devices. I needed a separate “tech bag” to lug around all the adapters, cords, memory cards, and spare junk (God knows my 12 year old loses stuff just by setting it on the counter).

I’m sure there’s a place in the universe where lost socks and lost power adapters go to have a drink and talk about their previous owners.

My last trip to Europe was in about 1996, long before the electronic gadget age. The only thing you needed an adaptor for was your blow dryer.
